The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has fined former EOH non-executive director Anushka Bogdanov R500,000 and imposed a 10-year ban from holding directorships at JSE-listed companies, citing her false claim of possessing a PhD in International Finance from the London Business School[3]. Bogdanov was an independent non-executive director at EOH from June 2019 to July 2020. Her curriculum vitae and formal declaration to the JSE included a fabricated PhD; this misrepresentation was later uncovered and led to a comprehensive investigation by both EOH and the JSE[4].

Despite being given several opportunities to provide evidence of her qualification, Bogdanov was unable to do so and admitted in late 2024 to fabricating the degree[3]. The JSE cited her actions as breaching its Listing Requirements, specifically concerning integrity and ethical standards. The penalty was issued not only in response to the false statement but also because it resulted in EOH issuing public disclosures with inaccurate information, eroding investor confidence[6].

The censure is a strong reminder to corporate leaders about the critical importance of transparency and integrity in governance within the South African financial sector[7].

Separately, in March 2025, Anushka Bogdanov was appointed as a rotating member of the Steering Committee for the Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI). In this role, she is expected to contribute her expertise to advancing climate resilience and sustainable finance strategies on a global scale[1].
