Brandon Blackstock, longtime talent manager and ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, has died at age 48 following a three-year battle with cancer. His family shared in a statement that he passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones, thanking the public for their thoughts and prayers, and requesting privacy during this difficult period[1][3][5].

Blackstock, the son of industry veteran Narvel Blackstock and former stepson of Reba McEntire, was well known for managing major country artists, including Blake Shelton, and for his high-profile relationship with Kelly Clarkson. The couple began dating in 2011, married in Tennessee in 2013, and share two children: daughter River and son Remington[1][3][5]. Blackstock had two additional children from a previous marriage.

Their split in 2020 led to a contentious divorce, which was finalized in 2022. In 2024, both parties agreed to settle remaining lawsuits over alleged financial disputes during their marriage[1][7]. Amid Blackstock’s illness, Clarkson postponed several Las Vegas residency dates in August 2025, citing the need to prioritize her children during this difficult time. She noted on social media the importance of being fully present for her family while coping with her ex-husband’s illness and recent passing[1][3].

Blackstock is survived by his children Seth, Remington, Savannah, and River, grandson Lake, father Narvel, and siblings Shelby, Shawna, and Chassidy[5].
