This page lists no vacancies, because no vacancy has been verified with the employer offering it.
That is deliberate. A jobs page that carries unverified listings, or leaves filled posts up because taking them down is nobody’s job, wastes the time of exactly the people who can least afford to waste it. Rather than pad this page out, it does two things that are actually useful: it points at where real vacancies are published, and it sets out the two checks that catch most job scams.
Where vacancies are actually published. The Department of Employment and Labour runs Employment Services of South Africa, a free public employment service. Work seekers register on it, employers post opportunities to it, and the Department’s employment practitioners match the two. It is the first place to look, and it costs nothing.

The free route first, because it is the one most people skip.

Register on the Department’s own system
Employment Services of South Africa is the Department of Employment and Labour’s public employment service, at essa.labour.gov.za. Registration is free, and it puts you in the database that employers using the service recruit from.

Have your UIF reference to hand
The Department’s employment services are built around UIF registration. On the employer side it states plainly that organisation registration is currently available only to organisations registered with the Unemployment Insurance Fund, and a UIF reference number is required.

Apply where the employer actually advertises
For the large retailers and centres in Gezina that usually means the brand’s own careers page rather than a third party. An application made through the employer’s own channel cannot be intercepted by someone charging you to forward it.

Keep a record of what you sent and when
Which role, which employer, which date, and through which channel. It matters for following up, and it matters a great deal if you later need to show that a request for payment came after you had already applied legitimately.

Avoid Job Scams
The rule that settles most of it
Being asked to pay for a job is not a warning sign. It is against the law.

No fee, ever. The Employment Services Act provides that
no person may charge a fee to any work seeker for providing employment services
. A private employment agency also may not deduct anything from your pay, or require you to pay anything, in respect of placing you with an employer. The Department of Employment and Labour puts it plainly:as soon as you’re asked to pay anything towards recruitment and related employment services know that this is likely to be a scam.

Check the agency is registered. Private employment agencies and temporary employment services must be registered with the Department. Section 13(7) of the Act requires that the public have access to an electronic register of those that are, and the Department publishes national and provincial lists. If an agency is not on them, that is worth knowing before you hand over an ID number.

Do not deposit anything, and be careful what you share. The Department advises work seekers not to deposit any fees and to be cautious about sharing contact and personal information. A registration fee, a training fee, a uniform deposit and a courier charge are the same request wearing different clothes.

Report it. If a person or an organisation asks you to pay, the Department of Employment and Labour asks that you report them. Reporting costs you nothing and it is the only thing that stops the same advert being run at the next person.

Why this section is longer than the listings
Because it is the part that is true whatever the job market is doing. Entry-level and no-experience roles attract the most fraudulent adverts, and the people applying for them are the least able to absorb losing a few hundred rand to a fake placement fee.
This page cannot tell you whether any particular advert is genuine. What it can tell you is that a request for money makes the question moot: the request itself is unlawful, whoever is making it.
